We Can Just 'Do' Stuff

I love a notebook. I have hundreds. Admittedly, I use them less as my life is now on my laptop, but a notebook was the way that I transformed a thought into something tangible.

Examples:

  • When I was upset or anxious, writing was a form of therapy. It didn't matter that it was illegible or repeating myself, all that mattered was eventually finding the words to express what was going on in my brain. It then defined the issue so I could understand it better, and process or address it.

  • Jotting down ideas. The simply act of writing it down allocated a moment in time to focus and capture a thought before my mind whizzed on to the next.

  • Creating a visual. I'm a visual learner 100%, meaning that words are not enough. I need a diagram or the detail formatted in a way that I can join the dots myself.

  • Journalling, as it held me accountable to a process and kept me on track.

Another way that signals to me that something is now. real 'thing' is when I get it printed on a sticker.

Because it reminds me that we can just do stuff!

All of these business and companies that we see. It all looks so official. We take them seriously with very little doubt crossing our minds.

We see the service/product and we buy into it because we like it.

And that's how easy it is.

So buying stickers for a project is a way to make it official, to make it exist and then it's a thing!

It's a cheat code.

These tiny steps may appear to be nothing to someone else, but it's what works for me, and what gives me the momentum and drive to do the next thing, and the next, ans the next.

It's all about working out what our cheat codes are.
